People old and young waited at Parihaka Pa's marae at the end of last week's Peace Walk to Parihaka Pa in Taranaki.
The walkers were supporting New Plymouth Mayor Andrew Judd, who was abused for advocating a Maori ward in New Plymouth - an attempt overturned by a referendum.
There were at least 10 people from Whanganui among the crowd that arrived at the pa. They heard speeches of welcome, including Mr Judd's, in which he passed the challenge of better Maori representation on to the next New Plymouth mayor.
