The Wanganui Lyric Singers will join with the Taihape Arcadian Singers in presenting The Joy of Song in St Mary's Church, Guyton St tomorrow.
These two choirs have combined on several occasions over the years, both in Wanganui and Taihape, and on each occasion the audience's reception has been most enthusiastic.
The Arcadian Singers are not a large choir but under the expert direction of Helen Gordon are most proficient, while the Lyric Singers likewise are also enjoying much success as demonstrated in last month's concert in support of Riding for the Disabled.
Guest artists are well known and talented soprano Marie Brooks and the equally talented duo of Shelley Walls and David Dent.
Today Marie Brooks is a music teacher of repute and will be remembered by Wanganui audiences as a member of the Divas, together with Sharon Ross, Sonja Wilson and accompanist Kathryn Ennis.
This group enthralled their audiences over a number of years.
The Lyric Singers will be under the direction of Joan Sullivan, who will share the conducting with Joanna Love.
The accompanist will be Lisa Boessenkool, who is now in her fifth year with the choir.
Some Christmas music appropriate for the season has been chosen, together with some favourites from the past year.
The concert starts at 2pm.
