Madison Malone
Senior Business Journalist, host of Markets with Madison

Madison Malone is a Senior Multimedia Business Journalist and host of Markets with Madison at the New Zealand Herald.

Madison Malone joined the Herald in 2022 after working as a business journalist across several digital mastheads and broadcast programmes, with most of her eight-year career spent in television. She most recently worked for New Zealand's largest investment bank and advisory group, Jarden, alongside equity and economic research analysts to share their insights with a broader investor audience. According to her parents, she asked too many questions. She grew up engrossed in news since deciding to become a journalist at age 3. Madison says she can thank them for her interest in business too, as their roles in the corporate world were common dinner-table conversation. From reporting on the housing crisis, to listed company earnings and fraud cases, her most memorable moment was opening the 6pm news to tell the nation we had entered a recession during the Covid-19 crisis. The weight of that statement and its impact on many New Zealander's financial stability is not lost on her today. Everything in life comes back to finance and Madison is committed to sharing the stories of business owners, investors, executives and society through video. She is also passionate about increasing accessibility to financial and economic research and advice, which is what her twice-weekly show Markets with Madison is aiming to achieve. Madison says: "I encourage you to watch, listen and engage with our business content, and to share your ideas with me. I look forward to hearing from you." You can contact Madison at madison.reidy@nzme.co.nz.
