•  Waiheke party makers Flamingo Pier are launching a new eight week DJ residency with Frank Booker called For The People at Las Vegas Club on K Road. Over the next seven Saturdays and one Sunday in May/June find a regular spot to dance to their music with DJ residents Frank Booker, Flamingo Pier and bi-weekly guests. An interactive light installation from Angus Muir will also feature inside Las Vegas. The DJ trio Flamingo Pier - Luke Walker, Dominic Jones and Brad Craig - are also launching a regular radio show on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide FM in London to promote New Zealand music. • Allpress Gallery exhibits new work 'Free Snacks At The Airpot Lounge' from artist Claudia Kogachi, recently awarded winner of the prestigious NZPPA, New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award (2019). The large-scaled collection explores the artist's Japanese heritage with family portraits and her signature style of thick layers of acrylic colour, creating an arena for her characters' narratives to play out. • The Auckland Theatre Company continues its season with The Audience from Peter Morgan, screenwriter of The Queen and creator of Netflix's The Crown. Debuting in 2013, the play delves deep inside Buckingham Palace and the "audience" sessions where the Queen has a weekly one-on-one meetings with her prime minister. From Winston Churchill through to David Cameron, the play witnesses royal wit, candour and explosive passion as we get a closer insight into the politics and scandals that have shaped Elizabeth's six decades of unwavering rule. • Rialto Cinemas in Newmarket is hosting the annual Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival this month with plenty of inspiring films on the line-up. This Thursday book in for documentary Bauhaus Spirit which celebrates the legacy of Bauhaus design as part of the festival's Art Lovers' Film Night. • Get on your dancing shoes for a glamorous evening of dinner and dance at Odettes this Saturday with Jazz legend Nathan Haines. Nathan will join Odettes' in-house DJ Jaimie Webster Haines for a DJ set of disco, soul and house classics with live sax, flute and percussion. Tickets are $150 which includes a glass of Collet champagne on arrival, a three-course Odettes shared menu and entertainment. The menu is gluten-free and can be made vegetarian.
