The Armed Offenders Squad were notified as a precaution before Whanganui Police arrested a man allegedly carrying a knife on Dublin St on Sunday. Photo / File

Police arrested a man who was allegedly carrying a knife on Dublin St in Whanganui this morning.

Police were responding to a report of suspicious behaviour received about 9.30am.

The Armed Offenders Squad was notified as a precaution and cordons were put in place.

A man was arrested without incident at 11am, police said.
