Three youths stole confectionery from the Harper St dairy on Sunday.

Three youths who stole lollies from the Harper St dairy in Gonville were tracked down by a police dog unit.

A police spokeswoman said three young males, carrying a fake firearm, entered the store about 3.30pm on Sunday, June 10, and allegedly demanded money. They made off with confectionery. A police dog unit located the trio nearby.

Whanganui Police were speaking with the youths and no charges had yet been laid, the spokeswoman said.

No-one was injured in the incident.

The dairy owner did not want to comment, saying it was a minor incident involving "young kids".
