The Rarawa Kuzi Broz stepped up in the final round of three in the Year 3/4 division of the Mangonui junior netball competition to win the championship round.
The achievement saw them receive the President's Shield at Mangonui's end of year prize giving lastSaturday.
Coach Tunisia Robson said she was proud of the progress shown by the players this year, noting the side only lost two games during the season, drew one and won the rest of its games; in what was only the second year of playing netball for most of the team.
"I just taught them the basics, they have picked it up pretty good." Robson thanked all the parents for their support, the Rarawa netball club and centre chairperson Gloria Harrison.
The Kuzi Broz, one of the seven teams, senior and junior, making up the Te Rarawa Netball Club, will celebrate the end of the winter season with prizegiving at Ahipara this Saturday at 10am.
