Whangaroa's annual King of the Coast fishing competition raised $7500 for Totara North School. Held on April 27-28 and hosted by the Whangaroa Sports Fishing Club, the annual school fundraiser saw children from around the Far North make the most of the holidays to try their luck.
Principal Kristina Lane
said the Saturday was a little rough for those fishing from boats along the coast, but Sunday's calm seas and blue skies made for a great day wherever competitors chose to fish.
She said the event was a huge success thanks to the support from local businesses which ensured there were plenty of prizes for all participants.
