More than 170 kids from 11 schools around the Bay of Islands and Whangaroa took part in the annual Kerikeri and Districts combined primary schools cross-country race on Tuesday over a 2.4km course around Landcorp's Kapiro Station, on the way to Takou Bay.

Schools taking part were Bay of Islands International Academy (Te Tii), Hato Hohepa Te Kamura (Waitaruke), Kaeo Primary, Kaikohe Christian School (Kerikeri Campus), Kerikeri High, Kerikeri Primary, Matauri Bay, Opua Primary, Oromahoe, Riverview Primary and Springbank, and the results were:

8-year-olds, boys: Daniel Rogers (Riverview) 1, Harvey Williams (Rview) 2, Zane Palmer-Ruifok (Kaeo) 3; girls: Lucy Sizer (Springbank) 1, Lucy Shepherd (Rview) 2, Emilie Jones (Rview) 3.

9-year-olds, boys: Harry Sizer (Sbank) 2, Maui Ransfield, Hato Hohepa (Te Kamura) 2=, Boston Dickey (Ker Primary) 3; girls: Bella Kinnon (Rview) 1, Anika Green (Keri Primary) 2, Emma Hannan (Sbank) 3.

10-year-olds, boys: Max Campbell (Keri Primary) 1, Ben Turner (Keri High) 2, Jack Julius (Keri High) 3, girls: Scarlett Murray (Keri Primary) 2, Penny Thackwray (Keri High) 2, Eva Fulton (Rview) 3.

11-year-olds, boys: Bay Fielding (Keri High) 1, Denim Clark (Keri High) 2, Jared Thomson (Keri High) 3; girls: Elena Polovnikoff (Keri High) 1, Ruby Murray (Keri High) 2, Kate Moyle (Keri High) 3.

12-year-olds, boys: Alexander Hull (Keri High) 1, Shine Fulton (Keri High) 2, Matthew Timperley (Keri High) 3, girls: Zoe Horrell (Keri High) 1, Ava Adams (Keri High) 2, Bryna McCondach (Keri High).
