Two Kaitaia teams - Team Genesis and Kaitaia Honeys - performed well in the 3v3 open division basketball tournament held in Waipapa over the weekend.
Team Genesis won all their games in their pool in the men's division, eventually finishing runners up by 2 points; while Kaitaia Honeys won thewomen's title as the sole entry but played five games in the open men's division.
The next competition will be hosted at Te Rangi Aniwaniwa one Saturday yet to be confirmed in June. For more information contact Manuera Riwai at Betabody Gym in Kaitaia (no number supplied).
The 3v3 is a new format for basketball played under FIBA rules: 10-minute game on a half court with only five players required per team and requiring sharp mental toughness, speed flicking and bouncing/ rebounding agility.
