Houhora

For the first time since its establishment in 1978, the Houhora Golf Club will be represented by a team in the Northland Handicap Pennants final in Kerikeri this Sunday (July 28).

The six members making up the team heading south to contest the final against Whangarei Two were No.1 Ben Kennedy, 2 Joshua Clark, 3 Neil St George, 4 Ian Fulton, 5 Len Crewther and 6 Paul Lovell. The team has been described as the 'Yes, We Can Do it Six' by Houhora golf stalwart, Kyra Rapana.

She noted the sextet had already pretty much immortalised themselves after winning the zone final (in Ahipara last month) but to win this weekend's provincial final will be just, "Chocolate pudding and ice cream ... and an even bigger picture on the club's wall of fame."

Kyra noted the entire Houhora Golf Club along with the local community was getting behind the team and supporting them in their quest to bring back the prestigious title.

"Good luck team, and as the ad says, 'Just do it," Rapana said.

In other news, among recent domestic results from the club, Joshua Clark won the Donaldson Cup on Sunday and also the club day haggle, with a very impressive 40 stableford points.

"Congratulations Joshua on a woo-hoo! round of golf," Rapana noted, adding Kurt Nattrass was hot on Clark's heels with 39, closely followed by Norm Wagner with 38 then Ian Fulton with 36 points; while Shaun Daly had a 2.
