Light winds and good seas saw 62 seniors and 56 juniors hitting the water for both days of the annual Easter Sportsfishing Tournament at Houhora over Easter Weekend.
The big drawcard was the $1000 cash prize for the person catching the average weight, and this went to Kurt Chapman, followedby the $500 cash for heaviest snapper prize taken out by Barry Kanara.
All fish weighed in were donated to the annual fish auction which netted approximately $1,800 for the Northland branch of the Parkinsonism Society (who provide support for sufferers of Parkinson's Disease).
Organisers Lisa Lilly and Debbie Bunn thanked all the anglers, people who supported the fish auction, and the event's myriad sponsors who provided product for prizes including portable gas barbecues, rods and reels, backpacks, hunting knives, leaf blowers, mullet nets, life jackets, WOF vouchers, cash and mutton for the seniors; and smokers, reels, easter eggs, gaffs and a chilly bin in the junior section.
Results from the Easter Sportsfishing Tournament hosted by the Houhora Big Game and Sportsfishing Club were as follows
