Despite being made up of predominantly Year 1, 2 and 3 players with little or no experience, the Awanui Angels have visibly grown in confidence each and every week they take the court in Mangonui junior netball's Year 3/4 grade this season. Coach Stacey Iafeta said the side having beentogether for over two months now, and were learning and picking up new skills every training and every game against much older and skilled players.
"I'm so proud of them and know they will be future Ferns!" Stacey exclaimed.
She noted the Angels are on the crest of a surge in interest by teams representing Awanui in local netball this season, including two sides playing in the Year 3/4 grade, one side each in the Year 5/6 and collegiate grades, along with three senior teams, two in the social competition and one contesting the premier division.
Mangonui junior netball enjoyed a break over the long weekend but was set to resume this Saturday and the draw should feature in Thursday's Age.
