Police were alerted to the incident on Pouto Rd, Te Kopuru, at 12.27pm.

Ambulance and the fire service are also responding.

A fire service spokesman said no one was trapped or injured in the crash, despite initial reports the accident was more serious.

Pouto Rd runs along the western side the Wairoa River, south of Dargaville.
