West Auckland's most animated export The Nukes is coming this way.
The Nukes, from West Auckland, are far more than a ukulele band, as they will demonstrate when they play Haruru Falls and Kaitaia in a couple of weeks.
Billed as part vaudeville, part rat-pack, part musical car crash, the talented trio deliver an engaging mix of humour and originality thatappeals to audiences of all ages will love.
Dave (Fingers of Fire) Parker, David (Snapper) Thiele and Benjamin (Country Boy) Collier have a well-earned reputation for reckless and riveting live shows where a fine blend of folk, bluegrass, reggae and post punk is caressed, coaxed and beaten out of three innocent wee ukuleles.
The little uke is the instrument of choice, and audiences are unfailingly staggered by what they are able achieve with it. Great song-writing, musicianship and three-part harmony combine to create a truly memorable experience.
On the road since late February to promote their 'Nukes III' album, which spent six weeks in the New Zealand album chart top 10, and their upcoming 10th anniversary, including new material for their fourth album, the trio staged more than 70 performances, many sellouts and attendance record breakers, along with major festival appearances and following a three-week tour of Australia.
