Eight teams of women and 11 of men took part in their respective sections of an annual triples tournaments at the Cooper's Beach Bowling Club last Tuesday.

The women contested the Shackeltons Unichem Chemist Jane Cameron Open on the carpet green, while the men played in the Far North Interior Open on the astrograss.

The field featured players from the Far North RSA, Kaitaia Combined, Oruru, Houhora and host clubs competing in pleasant conditions and with a game format of 1 hour 15 minutes on wins, ends and points.

Results were, Mike Reddy, Alan Thom, Barry Allison (RSA) 4 wins, 26 ends, 64 points, 1 (i.e. 1st); Trevor Smith, Peter Wilson, Ken Smith (Cooper's) 2; Nigel Leslie, Ray Thorburn, Neville Ansley (Cooper's) 3; women: Dorothy Hardy, Rose Timoko, Evelyn Bradley (RSA) 4, 24, 48, 1; Jean Huxtable, Jill Phillips, Liz Muru (RSA/ Comb) 2; Ngaire Watts, Sue Smith, Glennis Ansley (Cooper's) 3.

Lucky team draws were presented by Raewyn Taffe to Barrie Kinnear, Douglas Mansill, Alex Kinnear (Houhora), and Margaret Wildbore, Glenis Love, Dianne Brake (Cooper's/ Oruru).
Entries for the next event at Cooper's Beach - the Bronia Stockwell Open mixed triples on November 15 - can be made to Margaret Wildbore 406-1191 or the club 406 0330.
