State Highway closed after car hits wall north of Kawakawa

A car has hit a wall outside a school on State Highway 11 north of Kawakawa.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene outside Bay of Islands College at 12.30pm and there was one passenger with minor injuries.

School office manager Debbie Russel said the car hit a brick wall on North Rd outside the college, not on the school grounds.

NZTA is warning motorists to expect delays as SH11 is closed north of Kawakawa and a detour is in place using local roads.

Due to a serious crash SH11 is CLOSED north of Kawakawa. A detour is in place via local roads. Expect delays in the area. ^LC
