Mussel Rocks' defeat by Waipap in Far North darts last Wednesday means they will need to dig deep in the remaining three games of the round if they wish to make the top four for the championship knockout.

Down one player but with a capable substitution of Jeff Hobson the Musslers didn't take the opportunities that came their way. Graham Parker's RSA Red team had a even match against Houhora Warriors, both teams scoring well but Red players were hitting the crucial doubles. Houhora Chiefs have hit a patch of good form. They scored a good win over Young Guns. Bruce Hall is now becoming the strike force for the Chiefs. The $10 they paid for him to transfer from Young Guns seems to have been a good investment. Xl remain on top of the points ladder with Waipap after another all round solid performance and the Park bounced back with a win this week.

In division II, BJ Williams' top scored for RSA 3 in their win over Mission Impossibles. BJ also hit the highest finish with a 101 checkout, very impressive for a new player who only started this round. Taipa pulled off a good win over Muriwhenua, with Arthur Kaukau winning all four games and Mike Casey winning the last game to get them over the line. Of the nine teams in this division, seven are still in the hunt for a spot in the championship knockout with Wild Thing currently at the top of the ladder but yet to have their bye.

RESULTS from Wednesday, July 6, div 1: Ahipara Aces 5 The Park 11 (highest score Steve Doak 180, highest finish S Doak 116), XL 14 Squash Club 2 (HS Andrew Lovich 140, HF Chris Silich 80), RSA Red 10 Houhora Warriors 6 (HS Graham Parker 140, HF Harry Tepania 84), Waipap 11 Mussel Rock 5 (HS Denny Watling 140, HF Brian Steed 125), Young Guns 5 Houhora Chiefs 11 (HS Mark Frost 180, HF Kane Henderson 86); div II: Middle Earth 13 Wild Thing 3 (HS Jodi Hunter 140, HF Lionel Korach 113), RSA Three 12 Missions Impossible 4 (HS B Jay Williams 140, HF B J Williams 101), Taipa 9 Muriwhenua 7 (HF Frank Roberts 76), Awanui vs Kaitaia Club ( no card).

DRAW for tomorrow night, game 7/9 in round 2, is, Squash Club vs Ahipara Aces, Young Guns vs RSA Red, The Park vs Waipap, Mussel Rock vs Houhora Warriors, XL vs Houhora Chiefs; div II: Ahipara Arrows vs Middle Earth, Taipa vs Missions Impossible, Muriwhenua vs Awanui, Kaitaia Club vs RSA Three, bye: Wild Thing.
