At 10pm on June 9, Luxton was stopped while driving on Heritage Bypass, Kerikeri, as one of her headlights was not working. A test showed she had a level of 105mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

She was sentenced to 250 hours' community work, 12 months' supervision and disqualified from driving indefinitely.
