A record number of gymnasts turned out to contest the Kaitaia Gymnastics Club's annual competition on June 28.

It was an exceptionally busy day for the record 105 gymnasts who showed up representing Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics (WAGS), Mahurangi, Fantastic Gymnastics, Bay of Islands and Hamilton factions. With girls competing on four apparatus and boys competing on six, the judges were kept very busy the whole day. The results by Kaitaia gymnasts were as follows.

Girls. Step 5 Division 2: Jacinta van der Linden 3rd (place in) vault, 2nd bar and floor, 2nd overall for a silver medal. Step 3 Division 2: Nadine Witana 8th= vault, 4th beam, with Cassidy Foster and Nina Heron both applauded for their efforts.

Step 2 Division 2: Tahlia Andrews 8th vault, Bree McGlashan 5th vault and a "well done" to Kerry-Ann Cloete and Tara Fenwick. Step 2 Division 1: Jessica McCarthny 6th vault, 5th bar, 4th beam, 5th floor, 5th overall; Zara Riddle 5th vault, 6th bar, beam and floor, 6th overall; Lesley Blud 4th vault, 2nd bar and floor, 1st beam, 2nd overall for silver medal.

Also, Step 1 Division 2: Laurel Wilson 5th beam with "well done" to Indianna Foster, Ayushi Patel and Brooke Gamble. Step1 Division 1: Anika Riddle 8th vault and beam; Tiaawai Witana 5th= vault, 8th bar and floor, 6th beam, 8th overall.

Boys. Level 5: Andrew van der Linden 1st floor, pommel, rings and high bar, 2nd vault and parallel bars, 1st overall and gold medal. Level 4: Morgan Dolfing 1st floor, 2nd pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar, 2nd overall for silver medal.

Level 3: Riccardo Hone-Moore 2nd floor, pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar, 2nd overall and the silver medal. Level 2: Brad Johnson 2nd vault, 3rd floor, pommel, rings, parallel bars and high bar, 3rd overall to secure bronze.

Level 1: Scott Haines- 3rd floor, 6th pommel, 2nd rings and vault, 1st parallel bars and high bar, 2nd overall for the silver medal; Ethan Nemroff 7th floor and high bar, 3rd pommel and rings, 5th vault, 2nd parallel bars, 5th overall; Bailey Foster 7th rings, 6th vault, 8th parallel bars, 5th high bar, 8th overall; Nathan Haines 2nd floor, 7th pommel and vault, 6th rings, 5th parallel bars, 8th high bar, 6th overall; Declan Matthews 5th= floor, 4th pommel, 1st rings, 3rd vault and high bar, 7th parallel bars, 4th overall; Jacob Morris 8th floor and rings,7th= pommel.

Organisers thanked everyone who helped out, both leading up to the competition and on the day and advised the next provincial competition is the Northland Championships being hosted by the Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics on August 16.
