The Northland Regional Council is selling its pest control products at cost, as part of its continuing efforts to support community-led conservation projects and help land owners with pest control.
A selected range of pest control resale materials, including traps, pesticides, pre-feed, bait (including pindone), bait stations and equipment will be sold to Northland land owners at the price the council pays the manufacturer (plus freight, if any).
People who have ordered the products will be able to pick them up from the council on Fridays between 9am and 3pm, when a biosecurity officer will be on hand to distribute them and provide advice on their use if required.
The products have previously been sold at cost price plus five to 10 per cent, with savings made from the discontinuation of free pindone for rabbit control enabling the council to provide all products at cost, to benefit more land owners.
The biosecurity team says landowners who contribute to the cost of pest control are more likely to put the products they have paid for to good use than those who have received them free.
