The Northland College farm, outside Kaikohe, has lost a near-new John Deere 6100D tractor, worth somewhere between $80,000 - $100,000, and is very anxious to get it back.

The tractor was stolen early last Thursday evening. It was seen being driven up Broadway, heading in the direction of Taheke at about 7pm, possibly being followed by a green and silver Isuzu Bighorn.

Farm manager Bruce Anderson said about 25 students were currently studying on the farm as part of the school's agriculture trade academy, the loss of the tractor making work such as feeding out, topping paddocks and spraying difficult.

The tractor is green with a yellow sunroof, and had a front-end loader when it was taken.
Sergeant Dylan Robinson said the machine had been captured a number of times on CCTV as it left the farm via Quarry Rd then headed up Broadway. Those images had provided police with good leads.

He appealed to anyone who had information about the theft, or the tractor's current whereabouts, to call the Kaikohe police on (09) 405-2960, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555-111.
