A motorcyclist and van have collided in Whangarei. Photo / File

A person has been seriously injured after a motorcycle collided with a van in the suburb of Otangarei in Whangarei.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Keyte St shops at 4.24pm, a police spokeswoman said.

Paramedics were at the scene assessing the motorcyclist, a St John ambulance spokeswoman said.

One person was taken to Northland Base Hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.
