SISTERS OF NO MERCY: Kerikeri Siteworx team which enjoyed a 11-0 win over the hapless Onerahi in Northland Women's Premier Division at Waipapa on Mother's Day.

Kerikeri Siteworx 11 Onerahi 0 (7-0): The homeside celebrating Mother's Day by showing no mercy over the competition pushovers in this match from round 5 of the Northland Women's Premier Division (NWP) played at Harmony Lane in balmy late autumn conditions on Sunday afternoon.

Even with several key players unavailable on the day (due to a variety of other commitments rather than injury), the homeside proved far too slick for the visitors, allowing Kerikeri coach Paul Cubbitt to give everyone a run once the side went into half time seven goals up, ever-prolific striker Emma Richards accounting for four of those strikes alone.

The only thing preventing Kerikeri from scoring more was intensity once the result had been put to bed, and the Onerahi keeper who remained steadfast in the face of the onslaught. Goals by Emma Richards 4, Amy Walden 2, Lily Wolt 2, Maria Akesson, Makarena Dalton, and midfielder Nat Sydell, the latter nailing a screamer from 30-yards out which would have beaten just about any keeper anywhere.

Keri Siteworx side is enjoying unprecedented interest this season with over 20 players registered to put the team in very good stead for this year's campaign, at least compared with previous years where the side has struggled for player numbers.

The main goal now is not to finish as runners up but to knock the current champions, the formidable Kamo featuring a number of North Force players, off their pedestal.

This was the only game of Far North relevance played in the NWP over the weekend with Kerikeri High School getting a bye; the High School girls now having not played for two weeks after the previous Saturday's clash with Northern Wairoa ended up being postponed.

Also worthy of note is how the NWP, traditionally played on a Sunday, saw fixtures this year being played on Fridays (at Kamo under lights), Saturdays and Sundays.

NWP standings: Kamo (played 4, for/ against 18/3) 12 points, Kerikeri Siteworx (4, 21/5) 9, Hora Hora (4, 17/16) 6, Central Brown (2, 7/3) 3, Kerikeri High School (3, 10/10) 3, Northern Wairoa (2, 8/9) 3, Onerahi (5, 2/37) 0; standings incomplete with the Central Brown vs Northern Wairoa result yet to be filed.
