BEARING UP: The We Can team making the most of the fine conditions while contesting the Kaikohe RSA Ambrose Trophy at the Kaikohe Golf Course last Saturday.

KAIKOHE RSA. Despite a lacklustre turnout of 39 players, organisers of the Kaikohe RSA's Ambrose Trophy on Saturday reported that a good day was still enjoyed by all involved.

Event spokeswoman Daphne Morrogh noted the weather for the annual event was fine, perhaps "too fine" which may have resulted in one of the poorer turnouts in recent memory. The overall winners of the ambrose trophy were M Clan (Dennis, Thomas and Wade Morrogh and Janelle Henwood) who finished with 41.25 nett points.

Also notable were the Marathon Team award winners, the Razza Ratbags made up of five unnamed RSA staff members who were described as "early starters but last to finish"; while 'winning' the Toilet Seat prize were T-Road (George, Olive and Mutu Rameka along with Jim Harrison) who completed their campaign with a lowly 48.75 nett.

WHANGAROA. Domestic results from Whangaroa for the week ended March 29 began with the vets' play on Monday (March 23) where results were, men: B Voss 39, P Frischknecht, J Brooks, N Dobson, J Munro and D Roughton 38, ladies: E Looser 32; with Nearest the Pin: P Frischknecht (men).

From the ladies' nett competition on Wednesday, March 25, silver: S Dangen 62 (with the club report noting Sam shot an outstanding gross round of 65), T Wyatt-Logan 71, bronze 1: G Pembrook 65, F Sherman 68, bronze 2: E Whyte 66, bronze 3: P Carty 65, with a 2 by G Pembrook.
