More than animals

It's taken me two weeks to sit down and write this letter, after I read the article in the Northland Age, Tuesday February 6, 2014 'Dog, cat shot.'

What kind of heartless person are you? To shoot a dog with a crossbow and leave it for dead. And on top of that, to leave a cheeky note to the owner.

I have just lost my dog that I have had for 15 years, but he died in my arms, peacefully, and it makes me sick to imagine the suffering that dog went through. I know the owner of the dog, and I have so much sympathy for him and the circumstances in which his dog passed away.

That dog was his best friend. Now he wants to relocate because he doesn't want to be reminded of this tragic loss. A lot of people in our community couldn't believe that we have people living among us who are capable of an act so cold and heartless.

The community want to organise a protest march outside the courthouse when you appear so the judge and the SPCA can see how this incident has affected the community.

I hope the judge sends you to jail, gives you a massive fine, and gives compensation to the owner for the stress you have caused him.

To some people dogs are more than just animals. They are family. When you lose an animal, you lose part of your family.

I personally feel that you need to seek psychiatric help, because no one in their right mind would ever do something as sick as that. Pray to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness.
