History comes alive

Just wanted to drop a line to comment on the wonderful experience I had while holidaying in Mangonui. A rainy day saw us drive to Kaitaia and spend several hours in the Te Ahu Community Centre.

The history of Northland comes to life in the expertly presented artefacts, photos and interactive exhibition, and it held the interest of teenagers and adults - no mean feat. The coffee, cake and service at the centre's cafe were excellent, and the library was alive with people using its lending and internet services.

What a successful contribution this centre seems to have made to your town. Congratulations. Wish we had more centres like this in Australia.
