I recently attended the birth of my daughter's first baby in the maternity department at Kaitaia Hospital. I want to tell the world what a beautiful experience it was, in a gorgeous facility.
We were in a spotlessly clean room with a large tub and shower, with plentyof hot water to ease her discomfort. There were two lovely, gentle midwives in attendance, who encouraged and praised her throughout. There was an abundance of iced water and flannels to help cool her. Her and baby's care, during and after the birth, was superb.
We hear much negativity and complaining about things in the Far North, so I just want to share this experience and say thank you to our excellent midwives and staff of our special little hospital.
