The connection is ... ?

It is unbelievable, the haste with which TVNZ chased up Hone Harawira to ask if he knew anything about Patrick Awarau's charges.

Mr Awarau is a member of Mana but also a negotiator for the Ngai Takoto Treaty settlement. So why not ask Rangitane Marsden or any of other hundreds of other people that he has associated with over the years what they knew? Because there was no political mileage in it.

Hone is obviously a major squeaky wheel in the political spectrum, and his relevance must be undermined by associating him, wherever possible, with anti-social behaviour.

What I like about his attitude is that whatever he says he will stand by. No loss of memory or being taken out of context.

By the way, Mr Awarau is presumed innocent of the charges until proven guilty.
