And more

Your correspondent Shaun Reilly recently praised Mangonui's fine boardwalk, and pointed it out as the legacy for former Mayor Wayne Brown, who fought his own staff to avoid the steel and concrete monstrosity that they wanted for the town.

Mr Reilly was right, but Brown left more than that. What about Kaitaia's wonderful Te Ahu, that he rescued, or Kerikeri's excellent rugby and netball sports complex, or the cycleway? There are probably others I am not aware of, but it was a good effort during the global financial crisis and challenges our current Mayor, John Carter, whose legacy from 24 years as our MP was the prison at Ngawha.

Oh, I forgot the restoration of our lovely Saint Barnabas' Church, right here in Peria, that Mr Brown did with his own company while he was Mayor.
