Not rocket science

In response to two items in last week's Age. Front page: Kaitaia tobacconist robbed by armed thug seeking 'legal highs.'

No sympathy whatsoever - thugs wouldn't come seeking these items if he didn't stock them. The solution lies in his own hands, and it's not rocket science.

On page 2, Mike Sabin crows that welfare reform is "really starting to produce results".

Yes Mr Sabin, we can clearly see the results of your welfare reforms - increased thefts of food from business premises and private residents, increased stock rustling, increased demand on food banks and soup kitchens, increased thefts of fuel from service stations, youths begging for money from passers-by in the towns and increased shoplifting from supermarkets.

Yes Mr Sabin, the results are plain to see, but not many would see it as any improvement, or anything to be proud of.
