Bin it

I threw my paper in the bin. The recent mad explosion in the Sunday Star Times on Owen Glenn is a shameful exposé of journalism. The cause, attacking abuse is so powerful that any negative spin should be accurate and useful. Not only did the paper ignore those reasonable principles, it has blown abused people into oblivion.

The daily abuse is real, and no government attempt to get it dealt with is noticeable.

That recent article missed the mark and showed that it does not understand the law and the obvious advice taken by Mr Glenn. It is too easy to smear someone. Through frustration I have joined a new party, Focus NZ, and will use all my influence to change the law to insist on accountability by journalism for the damage done.

To Mr Glenn I say, you have the wrong people in place. Let them go. They are isolated from abuse and will waste New Zealand time and shuffle paper. They can't even resign with any purpose. Get rid of them.

I suggest you get the people who are at the coalface. The people who will start by examining CYFs and the police inaction.

Northland has just suffered an abuse case that ended in death. Who will ask any questions around the issues that may have saved her life? Were the police aware it was going on? CYF knew her history, she was estranged from her kids.

No one seems to check, or worse, they do nothing.
