Your correspondent Bill Morris (Letters, January 24), seems to be decidedly unhappy that The Northland Age is so widely admired a newspaper that it attracts readers from afar, some of whom contribute to the Letters. And that's it.
No explanation for his state of dudgeon, except that some writers from afar don't agree with his prejudices.
I'll be one whom Bill dislikes. I live mostly in the King Country, but spent most of last winter in the Far North.
During that time I discovered The Northland Age, to my delight - definitely the best newspaper in this country, in my experience.
The editorials are always worth reading, and almost always spot on. And the letters 'page' is definitely more interesting than any other in the country. It lacks only a thoroughbred racing column.
I have paid a year's subscription to the online version of The Northland Age. That means I buy every copy, unlike those who live locally but don't always do so. And, for these reasons, I reckon I'm entitled to write as many letters as I like when I feel the urge.
And the same goes for others who get the online version.
