Sleepless in Kaitaia

I live in a good street in a nice area of Kaitaia. We have retirees and the elderly mostly living here in well-kept and cared for properties.

Recently we had some new neighbours move into the street. Enter the neighbours from hell.

I do not like being woken up at 1.30am on a Sunday by some drunken, drugged-up wankers performing a haka and other anti-social behaviour. This has occurred many times since they moved in approximately five months ago.

There are two pitbull-type dogs on the property, barking all hours of the day and night, children out playing on the road all hours of the day and night as well. They also have a family living in a caravan on the front lawn, as well as vehicles, their own and visitors, parked on the footpath.

What is it with rental agencies and MSD putting Category A tenants into an area like this? An area we live in to be away from this type of living.

There are plenty of good people out there looking for a place to rent and live in. Why do agencies put people like this into good areas?
