I am well aware that change will happen and that we, as the Far North community, should be masters of our own destiny rather than wait and be dictated to by central government. My understanding of your article is that the Local Government Commission will only invite submissions if it decides that the proposal needs modifying in some form.
It all seems back-to-front to me. Shouldn't there have been a full and correct consultation process with the whole community before Mr Brown took the proposal to Wellington?
With Mr Brown's continual lambasting and mockery of the NRC, he neglects to acknowledge the positive work of this organisation, not the least of which is keeping the FNDC honest in several areas.
Please, tai hoa. Could we have a pause in this headlong rush and have detailed information easily available to all ratepayers and residents? Only then (if Mr Brown allows it) will we be able to make an informed decision about the future management of our district.
