Kahu Rangi appeared in Kaitāia District Court facing three charges.
A man allegedly driving more than twice the legal alcohol limit has been charged with causing the death of his passenger following a crash in the Far North.
Kahu Rangi appeared in the Kaitāia District Court on Friday, where he faced three charges that included causing the death of
27-year-old Ngaiwa Miru, of Kaitāia.
Miru died in a single vehicle crash on Allen Bell Drive, in his hometown, on July 11 about 2am.
Police confirmed he had been a passenger in the vehicle and had died at the scene. Two others were taken to hospital with moderate to serious injuries.
Rangi has also been charged with causing injury to another passenger and driving while disqualified from obtaining a driver’s licence.
