On August 17, a contingent of Kaitaia Gymnastics Club members contested the annual Northland Championships in Whangarei. The gymnasts achieved some fantastic results, with many improving on their scores from previous competitions.

Results:

Girls. Step 1, Div 1: Zara Riddle bar 3 (e.g. third on the bar), beam 6, overall 7; Jessica McCarthny beam 4, vault, bar, floor and overall 6; div 2: Kerry-Ann Cloete vault 3, beam 7, overall 11; Brytnee Cooper bar 8, vault 14; Ayushi Patel bar 19, beam, vault 20.

Step 2, div I: Hayley Eynon vault 1, bar, beam, floor and overall 3, bronze medal; div 2: Tara Fenwick-Nicoll beam 4, bar 16. Step 5, div II: Jacinta van der Linden vault, bar, beam 4, floor, and overall 5.

Boys: Level 2: Ricardo Hone-Moore pommel, high bar 5, floor, vault 6, overall 7; level 4: Andrew van der Linden pommel, vault, high bar 1, floor 2, parallel bars, rings 3, 1st overall for the gold medal.

Andrew also won the Northland Gymnastics trophy for the highest points overall for the Level 4, 5 and 6 boys.

The Kaitaia Gymastics Club congratulated everyone who competed.
