TOP TUMBLERS: The top performers at the Kaitaia Gymnastics Club's end-of-year presentation last month.

The Kaitaia Gymnastics Club's competitive and recreational gymnasts all spent time during December competing for end-of-year prizegiving medals and trophies.

Among the results saw a number of trophies presented to the club's recreational gymnasts including for, Senior Recreational: Kara Wells 1 (e.g. 1st), Charlotte Thorpe 2 and Shyan Wilson 3 (as the runnersup), and Junior Recreational: Ezrah Hill 1, Te Manawa Chapman 2 and Serena Laurenson 3. Other results over the various grades were as follows.

COMPETITIVE BOYS. Level 1: Scott Haines 1st on rings, vault, parallel bars, 2nd pommel, thus 1st overall; Declan Matthews 1st high bar and pommel, 2nd floor and rings, 2nd overall; Jacob Matthews 1st floor, 2nd vault and parallel bars, 3rd overall.

Level 2 & 3: Brad Johnson (L2) 1st floor, rings, high bar and pommel, 2nd vault and parallel bars, 1st overall; Riccardo Hone-Moore (L3) 1st vault, parallel bars, 2nd floor, rings, high bar and pommel, 2nd overall.

Level 4&5: Andrew Van der Linden 1st rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar and pommel, 2nd floor, 1st overall; Morgan Dolfing 1st floor, 2nd rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar and pommel, 2nd overall.

Merit certificates awarded to Ethan Nemeroff, Reuben Nemeroff, Nathan Haines, Ryan Johnson and Tyrell Daval-McKay. Also, Kotare Krafts Trophy (levels 4, 5, 6 boys): A Van der Linden, and, Bull Trophy (levels 1, 2, 3): S Haines.

COMPETITIVE GIRLS: Pre-comp: Brie Osborne 1st bar, beam and floor, 2nd vault, 1st overall; Ruby Apatu 1st vault, 2nd beam, floor, 3rd bar, 2nd overall; Cheleyna Malley Rivera 3rd vault and floor, 3rd overall; also notable: Jorja Pederson 2nd bar, 3rd beam, 4th vault; Erin Atkinson 4th beam and floor; and, merit certificates to Maia Tracey and Ngahere Gregory.

Novice Step 1s: Raukura McNab 1st beam, 3rd vault, 4th floor, 1st overall; Lily Matthews 1st= bar, 5th floor, 2nd overall; Lucy Hale 1st vault, 2nd beam, 3rd overall; Roimata Clark-Fairclough 1st floor, 2nd vault 4th overall; while also notable were Aria Peters 2nd bar, 3rd floor; Ocean-Maree Robson 4th beam; Tiana West 3rd bar and beam; Tiana Pirini 1st= bar, 2nd floor; and Xanthe Hone-Moore 5th beam.

And, merit awards for India Ruddell, Lauren Wagener, Starbright Hoani and Lesley Blud.

Step 1 girls: Tiaawai Witana 1st vault, floor, 2nd bar, beam, 1st overall; Anika Riddle 1st bar, 2nd vault, 2nd overall; Laurel Wilson 1st beam, 3rd vault and floor, 3rd overall; Indianna Foster 2nd floor, 3rdbeam, 4th= vault, 4th overall; and Paige Logan 3rd bar, 4th= vault.

Step 2 girls: Jessica McCarthny 1st floor and beam, 2nd bar, 3rd= vault, 1st overall; Zara Riddle 1st bar, 2nd vault, floor, 4th beam, 2nd overall; Bree McGlashon 1st vault, 2nd beam, 3rd overall; Moanaroa Witana 3rd beam, 4th floor, Sheena Gardner 3rd= vault, 3rd bar.

Step 3 girls: Nadine Witana 1st vault, bar and floor 2nd beam, 1st overall; Cassidy Foster 1st beam, 2nd bar, floor, 3rd vault, 2nd overall; Nina Heron 2nd vault, 3rd bar, beam, floor, 3rd overall. Step 5 girls: Jacinta Van der Linden 1st vault, bar, beam and floor, 1st overall; Shelby Callaghan 2nd vault, bar, beam, floor, 2nd overall.

Trophy winners: Novice Trophy: R McNab, Step 1, 2, 3 Trophy: T Witana, Step 4, 5, 6 Trophy: J Van der Linden, and Medal for senior college student for effort: S Callaghan. Trophies were also presented to Morgan Dolfing, and Andrew and Jacinta McNab for being selected to represent Northland at the National Gymsports Championships earlier in the year.

The club gave a big thank you to all the people who put in many hours during the year to coach, administrate, clean and just help out when needed.
