WINNERS: Kaikohe Intermediate winners of the girls rugby seven.

WINNERS: Kaikohe Intermediate winners of the girls rugby seven.

Kaikohe Rugby Grounds was the venue last week for the annual Year Seven and Eight Rugby Seven Tournament.

Hosted by Sport Northland this years tournament saw over 133 children competing with some teams traveling from as far afield as Matihetihe and Matauri Bay.

Ex-All Black, and owner of Kaikohe New World, Eric Rush also contributed towards the day by giving coaching clinics.

Kaikohe Intermediate were crowned 2014 Girls Champions after beating Kawakawa Primary 40-0.

Matauri Bay nabbed the Boys Champions honour with their winning score of 7-0 against Okaihau College.

Sport Northland Community Sport Advisor Cheryl Smith would like to thank all of the schools that took part and Kerikeri High School referees and the Kaikohe Rugby Club volunteers.

"They all did a great job again, with marking the fields and setting up and supporting throughout the day. We look forward to seeing you all back next year.
