Kaitaia Veterinary Services and TopVets have launched an agricultural scholarship in memory of the late Heath Harris.

Mr Harris, who was born in Auckland but spent almost his entire working life in Kaitaia, was widely regarded as an exceptional veterinarian, a humane but pragmatic man with an irrepressible sense of humour and considerable skill.

The Heath Harris Memorial Agricultural Scholarship, worth $1000 per annum (which must go toward course fees), is open to anyone from within the TopVets client catchment and is engaged in agricultural studies at tertiary level. Other scholarships may be held concurrently.

Applications should be made on writing to TopVets, PO Box 409, Kaitaia 0441, with a covering letter explaining why the application should be successful, a current CV, a contact address, two referees and details of any other scholarships held.

Applications close on April 30, with interviews scheduled for the first semester holidays.
