The beginnings of what is threatening to be a long, hot summer were keenly felt when the Far North RSA Bowling Club in Kaitaia hosted the Rogers & Rogers Plumbers Mixed Triples tournament over Labour Weekend.

A report noted that the event featured teams from Cooper's Beach, Kaitaia Church Road, Kaitaia Combined and players from the host club who played four games of one hour, 15 minutes.

The top prizewinners were, Toto Thompson, Val and Matt Jones (RSA) 4 wins, 24 ends, 56 points, 1; Alan Dow, Ian MacNee, Linda Freeman (RSA) 3, 21, 36, 2; Cedric Campbell, Sandy Edmonds, Teri Stout (Church/ RSA) 3, 24, 41, 3; Ron Payne, Dave Riddle, Nancy Page (Cooper's/ RSA) 3, 22, 46, 4; Lucky draw: Adele Gardner, John & Mary-anne Proctor (RSA).

Afterwards, FNRSABC president Ian MacNee thanked greenkeeper Max Foster for his efforts which ensured the green played so well, and also Christine in the kitchen for serving a beautiful afternoon tea.

The next tournament to be held at the RSA is the Skog Bunting Mixed Triples on Tuesday, November 12. Entries to Adele Gardner 408-0638 or Toto Thompson 408-2448.
