Northland Coastguard were one of many organisations involved in the search near Cape Rēinga after Man Bock Lee fell from rocks at Tapotupotu Bay.

Police have released the name of a fisherman who has been missing for more than three weeks from a remote Far North bay.

Man Bock Lee, 65, of Hamilton was fishing with friends from rocks at Tapotupotu Bay, near Cape Rēinga, when he was swept into the sea on November 23.

Emergency services were called and extensive searches were conducted around the area where he was last seen, including by Coastguard Air Patrol and police drones.

Despite this, Lee has not yet been found and police believe he has drowned.

“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time,” police said in a statement.

The matter has now been referred to the coroner.

Police have thanked everyone for helping in the search effort, including Search and Rescue, Police National Dive Squad, Northland Coastguard Air Patrol, Customs, Surf Lifesaving and Northern Rescue Helicopter.
