Finally, some action has been taken

I am both pleased and disappointed with what I have read in this article. Pleased with the fact that the Papa's Patrol has been established, and disappointed that it had to be a community initiative and took as long as it did. The incidents listed in the article published this week barely scratch the surface. How many incidents have actually taken place involving mobs of youths and violence? Lots. How many have the Police been called to? Hard to speculate. Kaitaia's main street has become an unwelcome place to go at night. I feel sad that youths in Kaitaia feel it is their right to make our town centre an unfriendly, violent place. I look forward to seeing changes in our town.
