A man has died after the vehicle he was travelling in flew off the road and hit a tree along State Highway 1 in Northland early this morning.
Police were called to the crash just after midnight along SH1 Towai.
The vehicle had left the road and hit a tree,
police said.
There were two people in the vehicle and the driver was transported to Kawakawa Hospital. The second person died at the scene, police said.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
