A group of Far North creatives have come together again for their weekly gathering at the Mangonui Hall to showcase and sell their endeavours to the local community and visitors.
Labour Weekend saw more people out and about at Mangonui’s Waterfront and members of the Far North Creatives Weekly Showcasegroup spent the day engaging with visitors to the hall, and taking entries for their $1000 “Lucky Customer Prize Draw”, which will be drawn on December 17.
The Far North Creatives on Sunday took a moment to enjoy the weather outside the hall while showing their work inside.
Members include Jenny Bailey, a quilter, weaver Agnes Hauptli, Debbie Wood, a resin and paint artisan, artisan Annie Tothill, painter and plant artisan Ruth Genet, recycling/mixed media artisan Huriana Gilet, and guest exhibitor Linda Sabbage, a painter.
Other members who exhibit regularly are artisan herbalist Amanda Alderson, fabric artisan Joan Clarke, floral artisan Margaret Aydon, painter and mixed media artisan Isabelle Artiza, and painters Michelle Newman and Joanne Hose.
Creative co-ordinator Annie Tothill said the showcase is different every week with a different mix of artisans.
“This approach allows for an everchanging weekly exhibition for our locals to enjoy and select from. It also allows for more artisans to participate, providing them the essential time to create, an opportunity to gain customer feedback, sell their completed work and to discuss commissions with customers. Some are regular, weekly/fortnightly/monthly while others are a bit more casual,” Tothill said.
‘’When time permits, many of our artisans continue working at their latest designs on site for visitors to experience. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and inclusive’'.
