A number of events recently held around the region doubled as preparation for those local runners and walkers looking to build up to one of the biggest (in terms of attendance) events on the Far North sporting calendar, the Fullers GreatSights Kerikeri Half Marathon on Saturday, November 16.

Those who have yet to commit to the Keri half were advised to register as soon as possible.

Sport Northland's Hayley Overton advised numbers are currently sitting on 2242, entries will be capped at 2750, and close this Sunday, November 10. Participants can enter online at www.runwalkseries.co.nz.

Local athletes have had plenty of opportunity to prepare for the Great Half by taking part in a variety of smaller more localised events over the past two weeks including the Wahine Tryathlon in Kaitaia on Saturday, the Tokerau Beach Fun Run on Karikari Peninsula over Labour Weekend, and the Mangonui Fun Run in the Cooper's Beach vicinity last weekend.
