The Far North once again turned on brilliant weather for the fantastic turnout of 48 players who from all over the province to contest the annual two day association and golf croquet tournament at Cable Bay during Waitangi weekend.

On behalf of the hosting Doubtless Bay Croquet Club, Joy Vinac noted the players came from as far away as Katikati, Orewa, Warkworth, Waipu, Kensington, Kerikeri, Kaitaia and Doubtless Bay, along with visitors from Australia and England to engage in an "exciting tussle between teams with target balls being rushed away from the hoop with great accuracy".

Saturday:
Winners of the Cooper's Beach Four Square Tournament were, Association Croquet: Linda Thompson 1, Kaye McGilp 2; Golf Croquet, seniors: Rod Christensen 1, Brian Morrison 2, Sue McLeod 3, intermediates: Janet Sole 1, Heather Metcalf 2, Shirley Reed 3, juniors: Liz Hunt 1, Tom Drummond 2, Gordon Walker 3.

Sunday:
Winners of the Manganui Professionals Real Estate Tournament were, Association Croquet: Beatrice Keay and Barry McGilp 1=; Golf Croquet, seniors: Rod Christensen 1, Des Heath 2, Kaye Bridge 3; intermediates: Murray Shaw 1, Suzette Heath 2, Lyn Ruapapara 3, juniors: Gordon Walker 1, Brian Small 2, Peter Bogue 3.
