Crash survivor dies in Whangarei Hospital

An elderly man who survived a crash in Kerikeri has died at Whangarei Hospital

An 89-year-old Northland man has died in hospital 11 days after a serious crash near Kerikeri.

Police confirmed the man died in hospital on Sunday. The fatality takes Northland's road toll to 32, compared with 27 for the whole of 2016.

On November 8, the man was driving a vehicle that crashed on SH10 about 10am.

He was assessed as being in a critical condition by a passing off-duty paramedic and taken by ambulance to Kerikeri Sports Complex, then flown to Whangarei Hospital by the Northland Rescue Helicopter.
