Police are beginning to hold concerns for the well-being of a 48-year-old Cable Bay woman who was reported missing late last week.

Leeann Scott had last been seen at Taipa on Friday morning, Constable Brett Walford (Mangonui) said yesterday. A comprehensive search by police, Far North and police Search and Rescue, members of the Mangonui Fire Brigade and Mangonui Lions Club on Saturday had found no trace of her.

There had been a possible sighting of her in Foxton on Sunday morning, but that had not been confirmed as of yesterday. Police in Foxton had been advised.

Constable Walford said Ms Scott had been walking when she was last seen, and was not believed to have been carrying money. He had been impressed by the community's response to Saturday's search, however, saying there had been a "really good turnout".

The missing woman is described as Maori, 176cm tall and of solid build. When last seen she was wearing an orange fluorescent top, black pants and Nike running shoes. Anyone who may have seen her or knows of her whereabouts is asked to contact the Kaitaia police on (09) 408-6500.
