Local bowling clubs came out in force to support the Hickey Triples at Cooper's Beach last month with organisers reporting the annual Oruru Bowling Club event enjoyed a marvellous turnout.
Among the highlights from the tournament contested on Saturday, November 29, was the fantastic weather and a beautiful lunch laid
on for the 18 teams representing the Waitangi, Houhora, Kaitaia and Cooper's Beach factions.
Top placegetters were Russell Hockley, Liz Muru and Sonny Hokai, with Ross Hulme, Mary Wright and Dennis Hayley taking the runners-up spot while Dennis Breckon, Trish Breckon and Bryan Caulfield finished in third.
"It was a fantastic day," a report from the day noted, with organisers again emphasising their appreciation for everyone who supported the event.
The Cooper's Beach club was also acknowledged for providing use of its facilities.
